Privacy Policy

MoodRx is built on a simple principle: your mental health data belongs to you. Everything you log stays on your device — unless you choose to turn on the optional AI Coach, which sends a minimal set of mood facts off your device only when enabled (see below). We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal information.


Deleting Your Data

You are always in control of your MoodRx data and can delete it at any time. Because MoodRx has no account and stores your data on your device, deletion is immediate and complete.

To delete the data stored on your device (mood check-ins, post-workout ratings, supplement logs, session history, streaks, and app preferences):

Health data: any workout or breathing sessions MoodRx saved to Apple Health or Android Health Connect live in your device's health store, not with us. You can delete those directly in the Apple Health or Health Connect app.

Purchase data: we hold no servers and store none of your personal data off your device. The only off-device data is an anonymous purchase record held by our payment processor, RevenueCat, to validate your purchase. To request deletion of that record, email privacy@moodrx.app from the device or store account used for the purchase, and we will process the request. Note that Apple and Google may retain transaction records as required for tax and legal compliance.

What is kept: nothing on our servers — we have none. On-device data is retained only until you delete it or uninstall; there is no additional retention period on our side.


What We Collect

MoodRx stores the following data locally on your device only, using your device's secure local storage (AsyncStorage):

None of this data is transmitted to our servers or any third party — with one exception: the optional AI Coach (off by default; see below), which, only if you enable it, sends a minimal set of mood facts to generate a coaching message. Your on-device data exists only on your phone and is deleted when you use "Delete All Data" in Settings or uninstall the app.


Health & Fitness Data

With your explicit permission, MoodRx integrates with Apple Health (iOS) and Android Health Connect. You can grant or revoke this access at any time in the Apple Health or Health Connect settings, and the app works without it.

Data we read: your daily step count and your most recent sleep duration. We read this solely to show you how movement and rest relate to your mood on the in-app Insights screen. This data is read on your device, displayed only to you, and is never transmitted off your device, stored on our servers, sold, or shared.

Data we write: when you complete a workout or guided breathing session, MoodRx saves it to Apple Health / Health Connect as an exercise session so it is reflected in your health record. MoodRx only writes these sessions and does not read them back.

We never use your health and fitness data for advertising or marketing, and we never sell or share it with third parties.


AI Coach (Optional, Off by Default)

MoodRx includes an optional AI Coach that writes a personalized post-workout message in the Dr. MoodRx voice. It is off by default and only runs if you turn it on in Settings.

When you enable it, after a workout MoodRx sends a small set of facts — your current mood, your pre-workout intensity rating, the workout name, and short summaries derived from your own history (such as how often a workout has helped you, your recent trend, and an occasional reference to one specific past session — e.g. a workout you did on a given day and whether it helped) — to a MoodRx serverless function, which forwards them to Anthropic (provider of the Claude AI model) to generate the message. We do not send your name, your written field notes, or any account identifier other than an anonymous RevenueCat ID used to confirm your purchase.

These facts are used only to generate your coaching message. They are not used for advertising, are not sold, and are not used to train AI models. Turn the AI Coach off at any time in Settings and nothing is sent. See Anthropic's privacy policy for how they handle API data.


Voice Venting (Optional, On-Device Transcription with Cloud Fallback)

MoodRx includes an optional Voice Venting feature that lets you talk for a short time instead of typing how you feel. The first time you use it, MoodRx shows a disclosure and asks you to confirm, and you can turn the feature off at any time in Settings.

Your voice is transcribed on your device whenever possible. Your speech is converted to text using your operating system's built-in on-device speech recognition, and in that case the audio never leaves your phone. If your device cannot perform on-device recognition (for example, the offline speech model is not installed for your language), MoodRx falls back to your platform's speech service — Apple on iOS or Google on Android — which processes your audio to convert it to text under that provider's own privacy policy. In either case, MoodRx itself does not record, store, or retain the audio.

When you finish venting, the resulting text transcript is sent to a MoodRx serverless function, which forwards it to Anthropic (provider of the Claude AI model) to interpret your mood and generate a supportive reply. The transcript is used only to generate that reply. MoodRx does not save your transcript — the session saved on your device keeps only the derived mood summary (your mood and intensity), never your words. We do not send your name or any account identifier, do not sell this data, and do not use it for advertising or to train AI models. See Anthropic's privacy policy for how they handle API data.


What We Do Not Collect


Payments & Purchases

MoodRx Pro is a one-time purchase processed through RevenueCat and the respective app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play Store). When you make a purchase:

Push Notifications

If you enable daily reminders, MoodRx schedules local notifications on your device. These notifications are generated entirely on-device and do not involve any server or third-party service. You can disable them at any time in the app's Settings screen or in your device's notification settings.


Children's Privacy

MoodRx is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, please contact us.


Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide notice within the app. Continued use of MoodRx after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
